How your contribution is used: as a registered NPC, AMWASA does not exist to generate profit for its directors. Every membership contribution is reinvested into the Stamp of Approval, the Publishing Fund, and the resources below.

AMWASA is a registered Non-Profit Company incorporated under the Companies Act 71 of 2008. Membership contributions don’t fund profit for directors — they fund the programmes that keep you writing – the AMWASA Index, the Publishing Fund’s grants to authors, the resources the courses, and mentorship.

A few things worth knowing
Can I move between stages?
Yes. Most members begin as an Inkling and move up as their writing and their needs grow. There’s no obligation to progress on any timeline.
What happens to my contribution?
It’s reinvested directly into AMWASA’s programmes — the Stamp of Approval review process, course development, and the Publishing Fund that supports authors with printing and publishing costs.
How do I apply for Quill Masters?
Quill Masters is by application once you’re an established Inner Circle member. Reach out via Contact Us and our team will guide you through the next step.
Is membership only for South African authors?
No — AMWASA welcomes Muslim women authors wherever they write from. The Barfi Table and some in-person offerings are currently South Africa-based, but online resources and community are open more broadly.
